Bernardo was born in Lima-Peru. He began his percussion studies in Lima National Conservatory of Music, with teachers Ricardo Barreda, Terry Hulick and Luis Beteta, later traveled to Chile where he continued his studies at the Faculty of Arts of the Universidad de Chile, in the percussion specialty, with the renowned maestro Ramón Hurtado Jorquera, solo timpani of the Chilean Symphony Orchestra, during its stay in that country integrated the prestigious percussion group RYTHMUS, with the who made numerous tours. Bernardo also played timpani in the Symphony Orchestra of the Magisterium, timpanist and percussionist in the Symphony Orchestra of the Faculty of Arts from the U. de Chile and participated as a percussionist with the Orchestra Symphony of Chile. In Lima, Peru, he participated as percussionist in the opera seasons, with the Orchestra Pro-Lyric Symphony Orchestra, FUPAL Symphony Orchestra, was timpani soloist and main percussionist in the Philharmonic Orchestra of the University of Lima. Since 1997 he has been a solo timpanist and percussionist of Capo of the National Symphony Orchestra of Peru, accompanying: Plácido Domingo, Andrea Bocelli, Sting and other international artists. He was invited in 2016 to be part of an international jury, in the competition to fill the positions by Timbal Solista, and Percusión fila, in Rosario-Argentina.

Since 2009 he has been teaching at the Faculty of Performing Arts of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, in the Specialty of Music-Percussion.
