Kanstantsin Kalesnikau

Kanstantsin Kalesnikau has been principal timpanist with the Tatarstan National Symphony Orchestra (Kazan, Russia) since 2016. Previously, he was percussionist with the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of the Republic of Belarus, principal percussionist with Alexandrinsky Theater (St. Petersburg), principal timpanist with Opera and Ballet Theater of the St. Petersburg Conservatory and Symphony Orchestra of the State Academic Capella of St. Petersburg.

Was born and graduated percussion instruments from the music school and music college in Minsk, Republic of Belarus.

In 2001-2006 studied at the St.-Petersburg Conservatory. During the studying participated in various projects of the Conservatory – the principal timpanist of the National Student Orchestra of Russia, in which he took part in tours to Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Finland, Czech Republic, etc., soloist of the Ensemble of Contemporary Music of the St.-Petersburg Conservatory and others.

In 2003 he received grant from the Gartow Stiftung (Germany) for short time study at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where he studied course of snare drum and orchestral percussion – Prof. Jan Pustjens and the course of marimba and solo performance – Prof. Lorenzo Ferrandiz, and also attended the timpani lessons of Prof. Nick Woud.

Kanstantsin worked with such conductors as V.Gergiev, Y.Temirkanov, A.Sladkovsky, V.Sinaisky, Y.Bashmet, S.Kochanovsky, M.Tatarnikov, V.Petrenko, K.Jarvi, K.Penderecki, C.Orbelian, F.Mastrangelo and others.
As a marimba soloist had solo concerts and performances with the orchestra.

The owner of several sets of baroque and old restored timpani.
