Ken Every

Kenneth Every is the Principal Timpanist of the Jacksonville Symphony, where he recently celebrated his 25th season. He is Adjunct Professor of Timpani at the University of North Florida.

Kenneth graduated from the Curtis Institute of Music, where he studied with Gerald Carlyss and Michael Bookspan. He later went on to receive his Master’s degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he studied under Paul Yancich.

Ken is a member of the Iris Chamber Orchestra and during the summer, he plays with the Grand Teton Music Festival in Jackson Hole.

He has held the position of Principal Timpani with the RAI (Radio Orchestra of Torino, Italy) and the New World Symphony, under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas. His solo appearances include a performance of Bartok’s Concerto for Two Pianos and Percussion with Emanuel Ax and Yoko Nozaki, with the Iris Chamber Orchestra, and the Jacksonville premiere of Russell Peck’s Harmonic Rhythm: Concerto for Timpani and Orchestra.

He is proud to be among the selected artists to represent JG percussion and looks forward to using the traditional German style mallets.
