Marcos Serrano

Artist

Mr. Serrano is principal timpanist at the National Symphony Orchestra. He also was principal timpanist at the Colon Theatre Opera Orchestra. As timpanist was invited to play with the Colon Theater Philharmonic Orchestra, Camerata Bariloche, Opera Festival Association Orchestra, UCA University Orchestra, Cámara Mayo Orchestra, “Juan de Dios Filiberto” Orchestra.

In 1992 he graduate as National Professor of Music at the National Conservatory of Music and three years later as Superior Professor of Music in the same institution.
In 2008 he received the Bachelor degree from the National University of Arts.
He wins the first place in the 80th anniversary of the National Conservatory of Music Competition in percussion category.

He studied with Nestor Astutti, Tristan Taboada, Arturo Vergara.
He took private lessons with Roland Kohloff, David Herbert, Peter Sadlo, Raynor Carroll, Michael Werner. Attended to masterclass given by William Moersch, Mircea Ardeleanu, Don Liuzzi, Fernando Lima, Alexander Radzievsky, Dave Samuels, Noriko Tzukagoshi, Dan Moore, Keiko Kotoku, Raymond Curf, Oliver Mills, Alexej Broese, Jesper Tjaerby, Markus Steckeler.

Since 2010 is titular of the Percussion cathedra at the National University of Arts.
Was instructor at the Colon Theater Academic Orchestra, School Orchestra of Chascomus, Bicentenario Orchestra, Professor at the Percussion Workshop of the National University Institute of Arts.

He gave masterclass and perform at the “II National Percussion Festival” in Lanus University, La Plata Conservatory of music, “IV Percussion International Festival”(Córdoba), “II Encontro Internacional de Percussao de Tatui” Brasil, “III Encuentro Nacional Del Sistema de Orquestas Infantiles y Juveniles de Argentina”, San Juan University, Quilmes school of Music, II Percussion Festival “TOQUE”.
Was invited regularly from the Colon Theatre to be Jury at Timpani and Percussion auditions.

He premiere “Baguales” for timpani and piano by Daniel Cochetti, “Quinteto” for violin, flute, clarinet, horn and timpani, “Mosaico” for violin and timpani and “Tapiz” for solo timpani by Martin Queralto.

In 2010 he premiere “Concierto en el Bicentenario” by Roque de Pedro for two percussionists and orchestra with Lea Prime and the Natinoal Symphony Orchestra

In 2014 he plays the ”Tharichen Timpani Concerto” with the National Symphony Orchestra with conductor Miran Vaupotic.
As singer he studied with Julia Uzos, Daniel Bonardel, Irene Wurt. Was member of the National Youth Choir, with the conducting of Nestor Zadoff, with which won 24 international prizes in Spain, Germany, Bulgary, Slovenia, Greece, Osterraich, Brazil, France, Argentine.

He attended to Coral Conducting workshop with Romano Gandolfi, Maria Felizia Perez, Weston Noble.

Mr. Serrano worked under the conducting of Eugene Kohn, Roberto Paternostro, Juan Pablo Izquierdo, Frederic Chaslin, Jorge Sarmientos, Ramon Tebar, Günter Neuhold, Helmut Rilling, Shlomo Mintz, Bernhard Wulff, Ross Pope, Jordi Mora, Pedro Ignacioi Calderon, Francisco Rettig, Stefan Lano, between others.
