Joseph Pereira

Joseph is the Principal Timpanist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic by Esa Pekka Salonen in 2007. Previously he was the Assistant Principal Timpanist/Section Percussionist of the New York Philharmonic from January 1998 to September 2008. He currently runs the percussion department at USC’s Thornton School of Music. Pereira received his master’s degree in percussion from The Juilliard School and a double bachelor’s degree in performance and composition/theory from Boston University.

Michael Oberaigner

Michael is the Solo Pauker for the Konzerthaus Orchestra in Berlin. He joined the Konzerthaus Orchestra Berlin in 2009 to become one of Germanys youngest principal timpanists. Since then he also became a frequent guest player with Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, NDR Radio Symphony Orchestra Hamburg and the State Operas of Munich, Berlin and Vienna among others.

Nicholas is currently the Principal Timpanist of the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto Canada. He performs regularly with some of the world’s major orchestras, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and Toronto Symphony Orchestra. He has worked with many of today’s great conductors, including Gustavo Dudamel, Pierre Boulez and was principal percussionist/timpanist with the Orquesta Comunidad Valenciana from 2004-2011, working with conductors Zubin Mehta and Lorin Maazel. He also has appeared as a soloist with the LA Philharmonic playing the Philip Glass Concerto for 2 Timpani along with Jason Ginter.

Torbjørn Ottersen

Solo Timpanist, Den Norske Opera and Ballet Orchestra
Torbjørn Ottersen has been timpanist with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra in Norway since 2005. Previously, he was percussionist with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra (Norway) from 1998 to 2005. Torbjørn has also performed as timpanist with several orchestras abroad, including the Berner Symphonie-Orchester in Switzerland and the Royal Opera Orchestra in Stockholm, Sweden.

Zhengdao is the Assistant Timpanist and Section Percussionist of the China National Opera Orchestra since 2007, and serves on the faculty of Shenyang Conservatory of Music.
A graduate of the Central Conservatory with B.M and M.M degrees, Mr. Lu studied with distinguished professors Liu Guangsi and Liu Gang, Assistant Professor/Principal Timpanist of the National Centre for Performance Arts Orchestra (NCPA).
